Three types of diets
You want to know a secret? Well there are three basic types of diets. You want to
know what they are. I will tell you about them in great detail, but first let’s look at
the three types of diets. First there are the low-fat diets, which can lead to increased
cholesterol levels and heart disease. The second is the low-carb diets. Under these
dietary programs, foods high in digestible carbohydrates are limited or replaced with
foods containing a higher percentage of proteins, fats, and/or fiber. Lastly the
portion controlled diets that are important for weight management as the weight is
defined by the total calorie intake. Which kind is the best kind, you ask?
The low- carbohydrate diets are the nutritional programs that advocate restricted
carbohydrate consumption. Based on research that ties consumption of certain
carbohydrates with increased blood insulin levels. Overexposure to insulin with
metabolic syndrome. Atkins diet is low- carbohydrates because it restricts carbs that
have an effect on blood sugar. Anne Collins is based on low-GI foods; it reduces
cravings and leads to better blood-sugar control. Low GI diet, has all the advantages
of lower- carbohydrates diets and lower-fat diets, but none of the health risks.
Did you know that everybody needs fifty grams of fat a day? The Low-fat diets are
diets that constitutes of little fat, especially saturated fat and cholesterol. There are
two types of fat: saturated fat intake should not exceed seven percent of total
calories each day and tran’s fat intake should not exceed one percent of total calories
each day. USDA food guide pyramids for example, is low-fat but high- carbohydrate
because it is mainly grains and grains are high carbohydrates. Then there is the
Mediterranean diet. People considered it a low fat, and high energy diet and
American Heart Association is low-fat and high carbohydrates because it promotes
fat and carbohydrates that are bad for you.
Portion controlled diets are how much a serving size is and how many calories a
serving contains. For an example, Medifast is a portion controlled, nutritionally
balanced, low fat and clinically proven program that helps people lose weight faster
and more effectively than traditional diet plans. Anther example is NutriSystem with
its prepackaged, pre-determined portion sizes. Then NutriSystem says that their
weight loss plan “cuts to the heart of the matter”. There is Amy’s Kitchen that is
portion controlled because there is a 1500-calorie and 1800-calorie option – both far
below the average American diet of 2200-2700 calories.
I have now told you about the three diffident diet types. First there is the portion
controlled diets that are base on a serving size and how many calories are in a
serving. The low-fat diets are diets that constitute of little fat, especially saturated
fat and cholesterol. The low- carbohydrate diets are nutritional programs that
advocate restricted carbohydrate consumption. I would choose the portion controlled
diets because I am a fast pace person. A portion controlled diet comes in individual
packets that you mix with water and microwave or refrigerate would be great for me.
These are three types of diets to consider. Which one do you think is the best for
you?
