Define “Real Beauty”
Webster defines beauty as “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” Using that as a definition, it would seem that what one sees as beauty, may not, in fact, represent beauty to another.
Therefore a young man in his 20′s may see beauty totally differently from a more mature woman, say in her 60′s. But even the young man may see beauty as a variety of things in a variety of people and not just the automatic reaction of seeing someone who is physically attractive.
Let’s face it, we would all like to have physical beauty, however, we are what we are. So the real question for me becomes, when I see beauty in others, what does that beauty consist of?
Well, any number of things and no one person has to possess all of them in order to have beauty in my eyes. Individual personalities can hold an abundance of beauty. A person with a great since of humor, or someone who is just good and kind to others, one who has a smile for everyone. These (more…)
