Beyonces Master Cleanser diet: The hype and the truth

Master Cleanser Diet Fast? Sure, I do remember reading how dedicated Beyonce was to her Deena Jones character in “Dreamgirls” a while back. However, I don’t recall reading about the Master Cleanser Fast Beyonce mentioned. It was necessary for her to lose weight in record time in between portraying Deena in her teens and late 30s. So what exactly is the Master Cleanser Diet Fast?

THE HYPE

Introduced by the late Stanley Burroughs in his book “The Master Cleanse”, the Master Cleanser Diet is also known as The Lemonade Diet, The Lemon Fast and the Master Cleanser Lemonade Fast. According to thelemonadediet.com, it “consists of fasting to rid the body of toxins, created by improper diet, lack of exercise and negative mental attitudes.” After reading this statement, it seems like the Master Cleanser Diet is supposed to have mystical qualities to heal the body. Then the website went on to say that diet “dissolves and eliminate toxins and congestion; to cleanse the kidneys and digestive system; to purify glands; eliminate waste and hardened materials in the joints and muscles; to build a healthy bloodstream; to maintain optimal blood pressure and to lose weight.”

Wow. Did Beyonce really experience all of these beneficial qualities (more…)

The advantages and dangers of dieting

Lets talk! The advantages and dangers of dieting, can be overwhelming. Our minds need to find control. If dieters don’t have control, they can be headed down the wrong direction.

Listen! There are many advantages when it comes to dieting.

* You have more energy.

* You sleep better.

* You get along better with your family, and friends.

* You start to see a brighter future.

* You may like to go shopping for some new clothes.

* You have a feeling that you’ve been given a second chance.

Don’t smile! There are dangers that need to be discussed. If you have bottled up issues that you haven’t resolved , think twice about starting a diet. Diets can be a start to a new beginning, or a disaster to an end. If a dieter is basically thin, and wants to lose weight, the person may have anorexia. These individuals are never satisfied with their appearance. If their bones show through their skin, they think their fat. Food is a toxin to them, they feel ugly, and fat. They may seek way of illuminating the food they just ate. They may try to induce vomiting. This will endanger their life. Someone with this problem, should seek professional help,in (more…)

The significance of health care education

Health Care Education

As a resident of one of the most impoverished states in the United States, West Virginia, I see daily the effects of lack of health education. Hundreds of citizens in my small town are without medical insurance and are ill-educated when it comes to a myriad of health concerns, such as tobacco-related illness, universal precautions against disease, obesity, medical insurance, sexually transmitted disease, and first aid procedures. With proper education of these subjects, I believe the percentages of contagious diseases and conditions present in my community would greatly diminish and individuals would feel more comfortable visiting hospitals and doctors’ offices. I believe this education should start in high schools and could be accomplished by making an elective course in which I am currently enrolled, Health Care Fundamentals, mandatory for all high school students.

In Health Care Fundamentals, my class learns valuable information that ranges from disease prevention to types of bacteria and viruses and their effects, health care professions, medical insurance, and nutrition, just to touch a few. The class is anticipated mainly for students interested in entering the field of health care as a career, but it (more…)

Are low carb diets healthy

Low carb diets seem to be the most popular form of dieting today. There are so many people that market their own low carb diet and each one seems to be different. The diets seem to be so popular because you lose weight quickly, which SEEMS great.

The quick weight loss associated with low carb diets is not actually a loss of fat. What low carb diets do is deplete the glycogen stores in your muscles. This causes you to become dehydrated. Most people get really excited when they first start this diet and see the scale weight drop but its really just muscle loss and dehydration. This is not healthy for your body at all.

When you lose your glycogen in your muscles, it causes you to get tired very easily, and even decreases your basal metabolic rate. If you have a slower metabolism, you will burn fewer calories a day and it will be harder to lose weight. This is why the percentage of people that regain the weight they lost is extremely high for low carb diets.

It is very important that you keep yourself hydrated on the low carb diet. Signs of dehydration include headaches, muscle aches, fatigue, (more…)

How to find release and peace through inner healing

Every moment that we live, we are being influenced by the pull and shove of the world. Life throws problems and responsibilities in our direction and we dodge or catch each of them, working the stress and strain of external influence into our lives and our consciousness. Shoulders get tight, blood pressure rises, headaches rip through temples, and we struggle to find balance in a world determined to see us knocked off of our feet.

Most humans are innately self-critical and fearful of rejection and change. It is common to find that our external struggles are mirrored by internal struggles and strife. There are avenues of healing practice, though, that treat both external and internal stress and allow practitioners to find peace and release through inner healing.

WHAT IS INNER HEALING?

The emotional and spiritual injuries that we experience in our lives leave scars on our consciousness, much the same way that a serious injury or childhood trauma will leave scars on our physical form. Inner healing is very much the internal, emotional equivalent of physical healing and recovery. The purpose of inner healing is to break patterns of critical and damaging thinking and transform the internal (more…)

All about liquid health supplements

Many years ago, liquid health supplements were virtually unheard of as health supplements come typically in the form of tablets, capsules and pills, which were seen then as the ideal way to consume them. Many thought that it was the most convenient way for the body to absorb the nutrients. However, tablets, capsules and pills could not get absorbed into the blood circulation fast enough as they take time for it to be slowly broken down. Also, for some people, the tablets, capsules and pills were passing through the digestive tract with little being absorbed. As such, with the demand for the effective absorption of health supplements on the rise, health supplements manufacturers turned to liquid health supplements.

Even though the correct quantity of nutrients and minerals are contained in the food that one eats, it is not advisable to just rely solely on them. It is not possible to obtain sufficient amount of nutrients and minerals that the body requires on a daily basis simply because the human digestive system is not large enough to process and absorb all the nutrients and minerals that the body is recommended to have.

In order to obtain the correct quantity of nutrients and minerals, (more…)

Support: The missing diet link

You’re standing in front of your favorite fast food restaurant craving a cheese burger. It doesn’t take much to convince you that one burger won’t hurt your diet that you’re following. It’s just one burger right? You can almost taste the cheese melting in your mouth as you’re about to step inside and order. Suddenly, you think of your best friend who’s dieting with you – Or your online diet support pal and you cringe with guilt as you imagine them asking you how many calories does a cheeseburger have? You hear anywhere between 400-800 calories’ in your head and hurry away from temptation.

Most people confess to not being able to follow a diet to its completion. The reasons for them are various and many but the most common one is the lack of will to restrict the intake of your favorite food at anytime you want. Research has shown that people who have support in the form of a family member or friend or are on online diet support groups have more chances of completing their diet and losing weight.

Assessing commercial diets

Recently, I gave up dieting. I’ve tried many things and lost a lot of weight on different diets and gained it all back. The minute you aren’t “on the diet” any longer, that’s where the problem is. I can’t keep the weight off without starving myself and that is just miserable. Most of these reviews will be based on a person who needs to lose 75 or more pounds, not the typical 10 or 20 that I hear most people complaining about. Additionally, men in general tend to have a higher metabolism than women and will lose weight quicker. So, this is written from a woman’s perspective. Here are some of the diets I’ve done and what I think of them:

Herbalife: Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. It’s costly and in the end I don’t think it was good for my health or my heart. If you do some research on the founder of this company, you will see that many of the products really can not do what they claim. They were sued some years back because of this and had to change the way they labeled their products.

To diet, or not to diet?

Diet has rapidly become an often misunderstood word. When many people hear the word “diet,” they think of quick weight-loss solutions such as the Atkins diet, Mediterranean diet, the South Beach diet, and many others. The Oxford English dictionary has a few good definitions that take us back to the better meaning of the word: “Food; the provisions or victuals in daily use, viewed as a collective whole, especially in relation to their quality and effects” or “Course of life: way of living or thinking” (diet used as a noun) and “To take one’s ordinary food, or meals; to feed (on)” (diet used as a verb).

With these definitions in mind, we can answer the question, “To diet, or not to diet?” It’s quite simple, actually. Choose to diet, but choose a diet which will become a lifestyle, a life change, or “a diet for life.” This is perhaps the easiest diet I can think of, with the best and most healthful results, because there is no need for deprivation and no need to count calories.

When I confront people with the words “moderation,” “exercise,” “weight loss,” and “no deprivation” all in one sentence, they give me a shocked look. (more…)
